Can Chiropractors in Cocoa Beach FL Adjust Too Often?

When it comes to how often patients should be adjusted in Cocoa Beach FL, there’s a difference of opinion amongst chiropractors: Is it better to over-adjust or under-adjust? In other words, is a patient better off receiving more adjustments, or can chiropractors adjust too often?

I’ve met chiropractors who proudly recommend over 100+ adjustments per year! On the opposite end of the spectrum, I know chiropractors who only recommend semi-annual checkups.

I believe in the integrity of following the example of what I do with my family and Philippians 2:4, “Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” The question now is, “what do I do as a patient of chiropractic? Or what do I do for my family?”

Get Your Spine Checked Out Often in Cocoa Beach FL

In my opinion, everyone should get checked for vertebral subluxations on a weekly basis and adjusted accordingly. One week you may not need to be adjusted. Another week you may need an adjustment. Based on this, if we keep this plan in our minds, we may miss one week or I may be out of the office another week, you can get checked about every week to two weeks.

“Why?” Well in my receiving my C.C.W.P., Certified Chiropractic Wellness Practitioner, certificate in 2009 I found a study that proves my point. Dishman1 states, “The residual effects of chronic pathomechanics include fibrosis, contracture, adhesions, deformity and structural derangements. This explains the need for repeated manipulative treatment of many years or, perhaps, a lifetime of management of chronic joint disease. Many of these consequences are preventable by regular kinematic spinal examinations and/or corrective care.” He goes on to state, “The reason 50 or 60 visits are necessary over a period of many months is due to the adventitious fibrils, fibrosis, scar tissue, etc., would seem more rational than trying to explain the necessity of replacing a “bone out of place” perhaps 60 or more times.”

Alcantra2 states, “80 visits over two years resulted in a patient’s ability to live a “normal life” free of medication.”

In short it takes a lot of adjustments (50+) over a lot of months to repair the damage to live a “normal life” without medication. That is if you don’t create more damage.

As for what I do, once a week is a good way to repair and prevent permanent cellular damage which becomes permanent within 14 days3. Based on this, I RECOMMEND once-a-week checks so you, your family and mine can avoid permanent damage!
